| Description | Commonplace book / scrapbook of Mrs Mary Jones Bateman. With the bookplate of B Jones Bateman on the front pastedown but identified by William St Clair as belonging to his wife, Mary. With many engravings pasted in, predominantly cities, buildings and landscapes; some pages of manuscript notes on music, grief, etc., quotations and poetry. Also some printed pictures of women's fashion embellished with real pieces of fabric and some gilt-edged cartouches. A felt/applique flower is loose between two pages. |
