Description
Records regarding music education in Trust schools, mainly regarding the work of the Music Advisory Board.
The Music Advisory Board was initially created in 1901 to inspect music lesson in the Girls' Public Day School Company (later Trust) schools. Music education had previously been inspected by members of the Trust. The first members of the Board were Dr C H Lloyd (Chair of the Board); Dr Ernest Walker (1870-1949) and Dr Eaton Fanning. In 1920 Dr Lloyd resigned and Dr Thomas Frederick Dunhill was appointed to the Board. In 1928 Dr Walker resigned and was replaced by Dr Emily Daymond. It is unclear when the Board was officially closed but it does not appear in the Council minute books after 1939.
