TitleHenry Le Pine's petition
Date30 May 1844
DescriptionHenry Le Pine, a 50 year old man, requests to be admitted to the Hospital. He was born on 28 March 1794. His parents were Jane and William Le Pine. The latter's family came to England during the Revocation to avoid religious persecution. They settled in Canterbury and were Master silkweavers. The exact region in France where they lived is not given. Henry used to be a watchmaker and silversmith in Canterbury but poor health and difficulties in his trade have left him with no income. The petition is signed by Henry Le Pine and James Henniker.
At the back, a note signed by the petitioner states that several members of his family had been officers at the French Church of Canterbury.
Petition n. 1278.
