DescriptionThe Ladies' Historical Pocket-Book Almanack for 1839, published by C. Penny & Son, London. The first section is printed prose, verses and engravings, followed by a pre-ruled memoranda, engagements and cash account section, which has been filled in as a diary and cash book by the original owner. A note on a piece of paper in the front slip pocket has a family tree of the Vernon family and explains that the diary belonged to Jessie Anne Letitia Vernon and passed to her granddaughter Auda Letitia before being given by her to Leslie Harris.

AdminHistoryJessie Anne Letitia Foley married firstly Thomas Taylor Vernon (1792-1835) then after his death married Patrick Chalmers, MP. She lived at Hanbury Hall, Worcestershire. A portrait of her can be found in the Hanbury Hall National Trust collection (object no. 414251).

Auda Letitia Vernon grew up at Hanbury Hall, but moved to nearby Hanbury Mount when her father, Sir Harry Vernon, died in 1920. She resided there with her mother, Lady Georgina Vernon, who died in 1928. Auda married Col Thomas Hill in 1926 and died in 1957 or 1958 aged around 94 or 95.
