| Description | Notebook titled "Extracts", inscribed on the first free endpaper "Book of Extracts / Mary Carr, March 18th 1850 / given to her daughter Ada Beuhauer[?] November 15th 1872". Also annotated by William St Clair in 1989 "Paper watermarked 1840" and catalogued by him as "Carr".
Contains handwritten extracts from books, poems and other works, indexed at the front of the volume and prefaced by lists of books on particular subjects such as religious study, philosophy, history etc. In at least 2 hands, predominantly the same as the author of the first inscription (i.e. likely Mary Carr). The second half of the volume is blank. |
