DescriptionVolume containing manuscript copies of prose and verse, pensées, notes (from lectures?), many with a religious (Christian) message. Inscribed "H S Miller 1829" on the first page. Two very finely-detailed pen and ink drawings of landscapes at the front of the volume, possibly places in India? Three small watercolours later in the book. One diary extract in which the author reflects on meeting a group of Khoekhoen people and their conversion to Christianity. [NB this passage contains racially offensive language]. Two letters addressed to Lucy Miller and one enclosure tucked inside the front cover (1850). Printed poem in French, "Une voix du ciel", inside the rear cover.
Inscribed William St Clair 1989 on front endpaper and his notes on the contents and likely authors.
