Description | Commonplace album, mostly full, predominantly in one hand. The front pastedown features the bookplate of A. M. Garbett Walsham, of Knill Court; below this the name is written in full as Anna Maria Garbett Walsham. Front board and rear board are stamped with "Knill Court". Contains poetry, including poetic epitaphs, as well as various engravings, colour prints, newspaper clippings, a silhouette, and pencil and ink drawings. Notes by William St Clair on the front pastedown and front free endpaper, including speculation that the album belonged to the wife of John Garbett Walsham, sister-in-law of Anne Garbett Walsham who married Sir Samuel Romilly,; that the paper is watermarked 1798; and that one entry is dated 1825 but some are probably later. |
