DescriptionCommonplace album, partially pre-printed, titled "Manuscript Gleanings and Literary Scrap-Book, original and select". Published: London: J. Poole, Newgate Street. A dedication on the title page records the book as a New Year's gift from Emma Payne to Mary Ann Payne, 1842. Introductory address explains how to use the album, which is otherwise left blank for "manuscript gleanings" to be recorded.
Has been used sparingly, but contains peotry throughout, including at least two examples by Letitia Elizabeth Landon (LEL). An extract from "A History of the Lyre" by LEL was marked (by St Clair?). Includes various engravings, many of women (classical or known figures). Some additional material tucked inside, including two pencil drawings of eyes, a second example of lines by Landon, and a card for Easter Day 1878.
