He states that he cannot bring himself to write in the present climate and that he has been trying to join the army. He also mentions that Eileen's brother was killed at Dunkirk and talks of people wanting to escape to Canada. Orwell also laments that he has not heard from Brenda and would like to see her one last time, especially if things get worse. |
