DescriptionManuscript letter from the neurologist Oliver Sacks to Sonia, thanking her for her help with French and Italian publishers considering his book, '<i>Awakenings</i>', and her praise for his contribution about W H Auden in Stephen Spender's '<i>W H Auden: A Tribute</i>'. Originally enclosing a cheque towards supporting the family of Cyril Connolly, the letter also notes the death of Chester Kallman, and reflecting on his own patient experience and his plan to write about it, he mentions the importance to him of Orwell's '<i>Such, such were the joys</i>' in helping him resolve his own preparatory school issues, (3ff).
